Alachua County Libertarians First Meeting Minutes August, 2016 Reitz Union
The first meeting of the Alachua County Florida Libertarians was called to order at 7:30pm at the Reitz Union on the UF Campus.
Officers attending were: Tatiana Grower (Chair), Carl Horton (Vice Chair), Alejandro Ou (Treasurer) and Jennifer Mitchell (Secretary). In addition, a total of 14 newcomers attended.
Agenda – Sponsorship and putting together teams for various projects.
Tatiana started off the meeting by playing the radio ad sponsored by the group and Carl discussed with the group the need for sponsors with future ads and marketing. Sponsorship of more radio ads and a possible billboard were discussed with the group. Nothing was finalized in this area. Facebook results and the possibility of further developing our website alachuacounylibertarians.org was discussed. Website development was tabled for future discussion.
Street Team: Group decided on making homemade signs as the wait time for such signs from the Johnson/Weld site would take up to 30 days to receive. It was voted in unison that we do not have time to waste on getting the materials. Flyers and door hangers were passed out to volunteers. Chris, a newcomer, volunteered to make a large sign for the back of his truck to display during UF home games. His truck will be in a high traffic area. A sign waving event was scheduled for Sept 17, 2016 at the corner of 34th and University in Gainesville, FL from 1-4pm.
Phone banking: Volunteer lists and contact sign up sheets were passed out for future phone banking dates.
Next meeting was scheduled and set for September 25, 2016 at 7:30pm. Location will be at the Jason’s Deli on Newberry Rd in Gainesville, FL. Carl explained that to hold the room at Jason’s Deli, we would need to purchase $100 in gift certificates. He will buy these in increments of $10 each to sell to those attending members that wished to purchase them and help us hold the room.
